About the Department

The Department of Computer Applications is devoted to the study and research in the domain of Applications of Computer Science at Under Graduate and Post Graduate levels. To bridge the wide gap between the theory and applications of Computer Science, Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) is conducted here.

The program BCA is affiliated under Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (formerly known as WBUT). BCA is a 3 years full time degree course, divided into 6 semesters each of duration 6 months. At the end of every semester, semester end examination is conducted by the affiliating University MAKAUT. The intake of the course is 60 (sixty).

The Department has produced several batches of young, trained and talented individuals who have made their marks in Software Industry over India and abroad. The students are well placed in companies like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Wipro, Cognizant (CTS), Infosys, ITC InfoTech, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, Deloitte, IBM, Amazon and many more.

Mission of the Department

The Department of Computer Application aims to produce technically competent, skilled IT professionals, researchers and entrepreneurs with the ability to apply their knowledge in IT industry, research & development or in entrepreneurial arena and they can meet the challenges in modern IT industry.

Program Specific Objective

PEO-1: Graduates would demonstrate analytical & design skills including the ability to generate professionalism through effective communication in their careers.

PEO-2: Graduates would expertise in successful careers based on their understanding of formal methods of application development using the concept of computer programming in national & international level.

PEO-3: Graduates would pursue advanced education, research and development moreover other creative and innovative efforts in CA, as well as other professional careers.

Programme Outcomes

PO-1: Acquire Knowledge of mathematical foundations, computer application theory and algorithm principles in the design and modelling of computer based system.

PO-2: Understand the basic concepts to identify, analyze, design and perform experiments for proficient interpretation of results and practices in the core of latest technologies.

PO-3: Expertise to get the knowledge of relevant fields in other faculties such as humanities, performing arts, social sciences etc. can have greatly and effectively influence which inspires in evolving new scientific theories and inventions.

I would like to convey my regards to the college along with my department faculties. I would like to show my heartfelt gratitude towards my teachers and T& P cell for guiding me to this success. From teaching me to advising me on academic matters and life, teachers were always beside me. Apart from the academic curriculum, they have always encouraged me to take part in extracurricular activities like sports, fest, tech events, etc which helped me to boost my leadership qualities.

Our college has an amazing campus full of greeneries and very helpful, approachable faculties who give their best in teaching. The research and publication opportunities are also in plenty along with different electronic and coding competitions (Annual Tech Fest included). I have published many papers in conference and journals. Our Training and Placement (T and P) cell is very active with job openings not only on-campus but also off-campus. It has been really helpful.

I would like to thank this institution that has given me the prosperous opportunity to spend such excellent years to flourish my knowledge and to meet some of the finest people of their time. I am also indebted to the cheering faculty members of my department for filling me up with such enthusiasm over the years. I would certainly like to convey my heartfelt obligations to my departmental seniors who have been the kindest beings in this brief journey.

Being a student of the Electronics and Communication Engineering department, it was a dream to be placed as a Radio Frequency Engineer in Amdocs. During the journey, my department itself encouraged me to enrich my knowledge and enhanced my skill sets. The hands-on training and lab classes gave clarity to complex topics on Electronics. Along with two friends, we had published a paper in International Journal using Embedded technology for Women Safety Device. This initiative seeded a researcher mentality inside me. The best thing about the department is the faculty members are always available. Sometimes our research works were extended beyond the class hours
